EMCOR Facilities Services has been awarded a £30 million contract to be the single source provider of Asset Management Services for AWE plc at Aldermaston and Burghfield, which are Government-owned/Contractor-operated sites.

EMCOR Facilities Services, the global facilities management company, has had its contract with the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) to manage its facilities extended. The original contract was won in 2003 following rigorous competition. The mid-point performance review has refreshed the terms and extended the contract for up to 5 years with a further performance review due at the 2-year point to ensure continued value for money.

This is a Freedom of Information request. Please would you provide details of American use of  hydrodynamics facilities at AWE Aldermaston including:
 
- the dates when these facilities have been used since 1992
 
- the costs that have accrued to MOD or other agencies of the British government as a result of US use of these facilities
 
- whether American personnel have used hydrodynamics experimentation facilities at AWE Aldermaston for work related to the Reliable Replacement Warhead programme; and whether such work, if it happened, had application for the UK High Surety Warhead programme
 
- whether American personnel have used hydrodynamics experimentation facilities at AWE Aldermaston for work related towarheads with an explosive yield of less than five kilotons

Weir Strachan and Henshaw - AWE (Aldermaston) Solid ILW Assay Facility

Weir Strachan & Henshaw has won a new contract at AWE (Aldermaston). The contract has been bid in collaboration with Canberra Harwell Ltd. The work scope is to supply, install, commission and demonstrate a facility to assay and sentence solid waste drums currently classed as Intermediate Level Waste (ILW).
The Weir Strachan & Henshaw role in this contract is that of principal contractor, providing project management and design integration skills to deliver hi-tech proprietary equipment to the site.

Weir Group has sold its defence and nuclear specialist Strachan & Henshaw to Babcock International for around £65m. The deal follows Babcock's purchase last year of Devonport dockyard.
